Route anzeigenOne of the most complete city beaches in Europe: a near-perfect arc of sand closed at both ends by hills, with Santa Clara island sitting in the middle of the mouth. The promenade above it carries the white balustrade that appears in every photograph of the city, and its repeating curve is a gift to a photographer — a strong line that leads wherever you point it.
The bay faces north, which is unusual in Spain and changes everything. The light is soft and cool rather than hard and golden, and it stays workable much longer into the middle of the day than an Andalusian location would.
At low tide the sand runs out a long way and you can shoot on the flat wet beach with the whole bay reflected. At high tide there is almost none, so check the tide table before choosing a time.
