The Turia gardens
A nine-kilometre park laid out in a drained riverbed, running under the old bridges through the middle of the city.
Über The Turia gardens
Route anzeigenAfter the 1957 flood Valencia moved its river and turned the empty bed into a park that curves right through the city. The result is nine kilometres of gardens, orange trees, palms and lawns, sunk below street level and crossed by the old stone bridges.
Being sunk is what makes it useful. The banks and the bridges cut the low sun, so there is usable shade through the middle of the day, and the bridge arches give you a built frame at regular intervals.
It is also flat, wide and traffic-free for its whole length, which makes it the easiest location in this catalogue for families with small children or anyone who does not want to climb anything.

Tipps
Nine kilometres is too much to walk in a session — pick one stretch. The section between the Palau de la Música and the City of Arts links the two most useful locations in Valencia on foot.
