ItinéraireThe view every postcard of San Sebastián uses, taken from the top of the western headland: the full arc of the bay, the island in the mouth, and Monte Urgull closing the far side. A wooden funicular has been climbing to it since 1912 and is worth doing for its own sake.
The viewpoint faces roughly east across the bay, so the best light on the city is early — the sun comes up behind you and lights the whole waterfront. In the evening you are shooting into it, which gives silhouettes rather than the postcard.
There is an old amusement park at the top, faded in a way that is either charming or the reason to shoot in the other direction.

Conseils
The funicular runs to a timetable and closes in bad weather; there is also a road up. The viewpoint terrace charges a small entry fee separate from the funicular ticket.
