About Rías Baixas & Pontevedra
The Rías Baixas are four drowned river valleys on the Atlantic side of Galicia, calm and green, with mussel rafts anchored in rows and vineyards running down to the water. Pontevedra is the base: a granite old town of arcaded squares — the Ferrería, the Leña, the Verdura — pedestrianised for two decades, so a session can move from square to square without a single car in the frame, ending at the round Peregrina church built in the shape of a scallop shell.
