The park is large and the roads between beaches are slow, so a session normally covers one or two spots — the cape and Mónsul, say, or Rodalquilar and Las Negras — rather than the whole coast.

The Arrecife de las Sirenas, a line of volcanic dykes below the cape lighthouse, is the signature frame. Playa de Mónsul has a huge weathered lava dome on pale sand, and Los Genoveses a wide dune-backed bay near San José. There is essentially no shade in the park, so sessions run at sunrise or in the last two hours of light, when the volcanic rock turns orange and the sea goes deep blue. Spring puts flowers across the badlands and keeps temperatures reasonable; October gives warm water without crowds. July and August are hot, bright and busy, and midday light flattens the whole landscape.

Outside the summer peak you can usually drive to the cape lighthouse, Mónsul and Los Genoveses on unpaved park roads. In high season access is managed: parking is capped and a shuttle bus runs to the main beaches, with the barrier closing once the car parks fill.
