Photographers in Lanzarote

Lanzarote looks designed, and to a degree it was: the artist César Manrique shaped the island's building rules, which is why every house is white with green or blue woodwork against black volcanic ground. The contrast is extreme and photographs with almost no processing. Timanfaya's lava fields give an alien, empty landscape; La Geria's vineyards sit in thousands of black stone crescents; the north has cliffs and the Mirador del Río. Fewer trees and softer crowds than the bigger islands, and consistent light most of the year.
