The golden rule is to coordinate without matching — choose complementary colors and classic styles that reflect your personality. Solid colors and muted tones (navy, cream, sage, terracotta) photograph beautifully against Spain's warm-toned architecture and lush green landscapes. Avoid busy patterns, large logos, or neon colors that can distract from you as a couple. Comfortable shoes are essential, especially in Madrid and Barcelona where cobblestone streets and hillside viewpoints are common. Bring a second outfit if you'd like variety — many couples change halfway through longer sessions. Golden hour — the hour after sunrise or before sunset — provides the most flattering, warm, romantic light and is universally recommended by professional photographers. In Spain, sunset times range from around 5:30pm in winter to 9:00pm in summer, so plan accordingly. Sunset sessions in Madrid and Barcelona are especially popular because the westward-facing viewpoints catch the light over the city rooftops beautifully. Sunrise shoots are quieter and give you famous landmarks nearly to yourselves, which is ideal for Toledo or heavily touristed areas. The church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla on its rock above the sea is the image Sitges is known for. Around it are the Passeig de la Ribera promenade with its palms and iron lamps, the whitewashed lanes of the old town, Platja de Sant Sebastià on the quieter side of the church, and the terrace beside the Palau Maricel.

Late afternoon is when Sitges is at its best: the sea turns metallic, the church catches warm light from the west and the day-trippers from Barcelona start heading home. Early morning gives you empty lanes in the old town. July and August are busy on the beaches at every hour, so May, June and September photograph far more calmly.
